In May 2008 the Royal Tyrrell Museum was approached by Toronto-based Sinking Ship Entertainment to collaborate on a new childrens television series entitled, Dino Dan.
The series tells the story of 10-year-old-Dan Henderson Dino Dan to his friends who uses his vivid imagination to spin everyday situations into adventures of pre-historic proportions.
A fountain of information, Dan can answer almost any dinosaur question. But in the rare instance he doesnt know the answer, he conducts dino experiments complete with real dinosaurs to find it.
The show will premiere January 2010 on TVO, ACCESS Alberta, The Knowledge Network in British Columbia and Saskatchewans SCN in Canada, and in spring 2010 on Nickelodeons Nick Jr. in the United States and Nickelodeon Australia.
As Canadas only facility dedicated exclusively to palaeontology the Museum is thrilled to be part of this project as it broadens our educational mandate while strengthening our efforts to use new media and technology in promoting better understanding of Albertas rich natural history.
