Granular Activated Carbon is used for filtering air and liquid to remove organic pollutants. Uses: Adsorption of small molecular weight organics and pesticides from waste and potable water and Deozonation of Aquatic Centres. The carbon adsorbs the VOCs which are a common cause of odours. Methyl Bromide (MeBr): The GAC is used as a filter in the vent from the fumigation system. Waste Water Treatment: Waste Water: The granular activated carbon is used as a filter in a vessel through which the water is pumped. The GAC is regularly backwashed and does not need to be replaced until it is exhausted which may take several years. Stormwater: The granular activated carbon is used as part of a stormwater sand filter constructed specially for stormwater treatment through which the stormwater is flowing. The GAC will remove organic compounds present in the stormwater. Chlorine Removal: Removal of chlorine from municipal water supply to dairy / food processing plant.
